It may be useful to add to the documentation a note to the effect that, when compiling using xlf, the LIB_DEFINES in src/tools/tcgmsg-mpi/GNUmakefile must be preceded by "-WF," with no spaces; i.e.,
LIB_DEFINES+=-DLINUX64 -DLINUX -DEXT_INT -DIFCLINUX -DIFCV8 -DNOUSE_MMAP
should become
LIB_DEFINES+=-WF,-DLINUX64 -WF,-DLINUX -WF,-DEXT_INT -WF,-DIFCLINUX -WF,-DIFCV8 -WF,-DNOUSE_MMAP
and so forth, throughout that file.
